Modern Organic

The Inspiration Behind Al Fresco.

  • You can trace the roots of batik fabric printing back to Egypt in the 4th century BC. Al Fresco derives its inspiration these organic printing techniques and patterns.

  • So much of the inspiration for our patterns and textures come from nature and Al Fresco was no different. Many sketches using plants as basic shapes were considered. The final design was stepped and repeated to create a pleasing pattern at a pleasing scale.

  • Sticking with the organic theme we wanted to create a palette of colorways that were reflective of nature. We eschewed pure color in favor of muted color combined with off white hues.

  • With Al Fresco, and all Paul Brayton Designs textiles, our goal is to achieve high performance. We decided on a construction process that uses 100% Recycled Solution Dyed Nylon. Al Fresco was given a Crypton Incase finish for stain resistance and cleanability. Its construction allowed Al Fresco to withstand high use exceeding 50,000 double rubs.

  • Sample runs of Al Fresco were applied to a variety of forms from lounge seating to guest / side chairs and ottomans. Our master cutters, sewers and upholsterers all give Al Fresco the thumbs up for application.

  • If an organically inspired pattern with high performance features fits your design consider Al Fresco.
